Doesn't hurt that the planeswalkers this time around are both badass women, when she knows the normal Magic scene is pretty male dominated. Pretty sure Jace vs Gideon would not have appealed to her at all, but she's at least intrigued by Chandra and Nissa.

HALP!!1

White looks like the strongest color....

Green was light....but it does have triple cobra....

Red was ok...no welding sparks or any cards to really draw me in

Black looks like a good second color....decent early drops

Blue looks weak...no real draw to it outside of Dovan and malfunction....

BW Looked good initially but the early drops in black that have synergy with artifacts don't get any help early in the curve.....looks like the best option, splashing for the unlicensed disintegration

UW Was ok.....Dovan is a draw but blue looks kinda weak outside the planeswalker and a malfunction

BG may be viable.....easy splash for unlicensed disintegration

Standard Ponderings....

So I was on the GR Aetherworks Marvel deck. I really liked playing it because I got to cast huge things way ahead of curve, which is always lots of fun. It's great against GB Delirium and ok against UW but horrible against U based control. I've seen people start splashing black for Transgress the Mind in the side or splash blue for counters out of the board. I'm over the deck. It's just too weak to control. Which is where I think things are headed....

I'm not a fan of playing UW even though the deck is pretty good. Mostly because I really don't like the deck. It's fine it just doesn't appeal to me and even though it has some draws that are tough to beat. Meh.

GB Delirium is fun to play but for some reason I just don't feel like piloting that either. All grindy and shit. It seems like standard has been all midrange-y for a while now and I guess I'm just over that style of deck at the moment, even if it is good. Meh, again.

Both UR and UB seem to be on the upswing.....maybe I'm wrong but I'm willing to bet U based control will start seeing a larger share of the meta.....

Of the two, I like UB a little more. Not the Metallurgic Summonings jank, just straight up counter, kill your stuff and finish you off with Gearhulks version. BTW, casting confirm suspicions fells pretty nice. I think UR is better against aggressive decks for sure thanks to early removal on the cheap. BUT, I like UB against the field thanks for main deck ruinous paths to take care of resolved walkers that can sneak through when you may not have a counter in hand. BUT I do like having dragonmaster outcast out of side in the UR deck. That card is pretty overlooked and has a great home in that shell. Decisions, decision. I may tinker with grixis but the mana base scares me a bit...if I do go that direction it would be UBr...red splash for outcast and some sideboard cards like tears of valakut. Maybe.

Back to the lab...

Grixis in Standard? Are you Shota? If you're not Shota, you're gonna have a bad time.
