So how do these work? He sells stocks to fund his way and then pays back his backers before he pays himself if he wins anything?

Where can I read about this system? If I have learned nothing from TMZ it is that I should trust Drew with my money while he gambles it on a fantastic vacation in Vegas.

srsly though, I want details.

very interesting reads. So it's basically selling shares to buy in and then repaying them before you pay yourself back. I have taken worse gambles with money.

So the max payout is basically 1.2x the backing?

As I understand it,

payout is based on percent you stake from total winnings

1.2 is the backing cost.

tl;dr -

he wants to sell 5 events as a package, at 1.20 rate, that means he needs $60,000 to play all 5 events. He decides he'll sell up to 30%.

So, 30% of the $60k needed = $18k. Which then makes up 100% of the backing he is asking for. So we can figure out how much each single 1% goes for.... ($180 = 1%)

Let's say you buy 10% ($1800) and he makes 300k from those 5 events in total. You get $9,000 (10% of 30% of 100% winnings)
Shouldn't backers be paid back first?

300k winnings - 18k backers = 282k profit *.3 *.1 = 8460 stake of winnings
+ 1800 investment repaid
= $ 10260
